This week, NET is taking a break from Nebraska Stories.  But if you are longing to still learn more about Nebraska, there are three different shows that focus on three different parts of Nebraska.

Learn about the Sandhill cranes

Currently the ninety minute documentary, “Crane Song” is being featured as a part of their special programming.  Since this happens to be this bird’s migratory season, this is the perfect show to get you in the mood for seeing cranes.  Since this bird watching excursion is one adventure that I am really hoping to have this spring,  I know that I want to learn more about the cranes before we travel to see them.  Doesn’t this description from NET make you long for the experience too?

“Crane Song,” a vibrant high-definition documentary by NET Television is a stunning visual essay of the Sandhill crane’s migration through Nebraska, weaving together striking images and majestic sounds of the birds’ journey with the stories and insights of the individuals who observe these creatures, as well as landowners endeavoring to ensure a habitat that is welcoming to the cranes.”

Learn about Nebraska chocolate

Although Valentine’s Day has come and gone, I know that I am still not tired of chocolate.  Why not learn more about Nebraska’s connection to this delicious treat?  Here is the show description from NET: “A decadent journey about the sweets we love. Travel across the state to meet passionate chefs, creative craftsmen and chocolate lovers who put their signature stamp on this ancient treat.”

These are the upcoming times for this ninety minute documentary.

  •  Saturday March 9th at 11:30 am on NET Create
  • Sunday March 10th at 11:30 pm NET
  • Saturday March 16th at 3:30 am on NET

Learn about Nebraska Barn Quilts

Another NET special that sounds intriguing is the “Patchwork on the Plains: Nebraska’s Barn Quilt Culture.”  According to the NET show description states this show provides “A look at the history, family traditions, patriotism and community pride that goes into plywood painted squares.  During this next week, this program is only on Saturday March 9th from 2:00 -3:30 am (Maybe you can set your DVR? 🙂 )  I know that I have loved seeing these Patchwork Barn quilts as I have traveled around the state.

As for more ways to learn about Nebraska, stay tuned to NET.  Their online schedule tells about their upcoming weekly programming.  Since there is so much to learn about Nebraska, I am thankful that there are excellent programs to watch on NET.
