Initially I wrote this post 3 years ago – when I was barely 2 1/2 months into blogging.  Now as I look back, I know that I had so much to learn about writing and especially about photography.  While I have a long way to go before I could ever be considered even close to a professional photographer, I still can take some satisfaction in the fact that my skills have improved.  Continuing to study the pictures of other great photographers have inspired me to continue to improve this craft.  The fact that I can claim to have taken the feature image photograph and needed to do very little editing makes me smile.  Enjoy this post that was originally published on this blog on September 20th, 2013 and be inspired by a truly brilliant photographer, Ansel Adams.

When I went searching for quotations on photography, I found two brilliant ones from photographer, Ansel Adams.  He captured brilliant scenes of people and especially of nature throughout the 1900’s.  Seeing his photographs online gives me goose bumps – I cannot imagine what I would feel if I ever had the chance to see them in person.

I am taking a bit of risk by including one of his pictures on my blog.  Suddenly even my shots that are decent begin to greatly pale by comparison to his genius.  Yet I want to always be willing to admire those whose talent far exceeds my own even at the risk of exposing a bit of my own incompetence.  Even though he is far out of my league, may his photographs continue to compel me to capture life in my own way as well.

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams “You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
