March is a month many people look forward to arriving.  Spring is in the air.  The sun seems to shine longer and longer.  Many kids look forward to March because they get a break from school – the first extended one in a long awhile.  Both Lincoln and Omaha public started their spring breaks today.  As a homeschool family, ours fluctuates.  We are mostly done with ours, as we had to travel for that basketball tournament last week.  Since we needed a day to catch up around here, studies will start tomorrow.  Not sure if my kids would call cleaning a break, but they are at least not having to do studies today.

Since Nebraska Stories is also taking a break this week, I thought it would be a perfect time to catch you up with some of the happenings across our state.  This post will include links to several possibilities, and most of them are happening this week-end, giving you plenty of time to plan.  Then the rest of the week I am going to focus on specific places that could help you fill up your spring break with purposeful Nebraska fun!

Zoos: The Lincoln Zoo is now open for limited hours this March, including this week for Spring Break.  The Omaha Zoo is open year round.  The Riverside Discovery Center in Scottsbluff will be opening up again in May.

Monday March 7th

The Lincoln Children’s Museum is open today.  Normally on Mondays, they are closed.  Enjoy the extra time there!  Plus all week, they will be having Discovery Days.  Basically these are theme days where you can send your kids to have fun all day at the Museum.  You can sign up for just one day.  But why not do all five?  (Just to make you feel better – my kids would have to pick just one too – the life of having four kids & a budget! 🙂 )

Here are the themes for this week …

3/9: Museum Mysteries
3/10: Build It, Break It!
3/11: Passport to FUN!
