Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss’ birthday.  Although he may not be alive anymore to celebrate, his birthday is a big event at many libraries across the nation.  Nebraska is no exception.  Here are just a few of the events planned across our state to celebrate this children’s lit icon.

Frontier Trails

The Kearney Area Children’s Museum is having a Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash THIS morning from 9 to 11.  Here is a description from their website.

Join us as we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel, and the magical world of his timeless children’s books!  Go fishing at McEllegots pool, walk with the kings stilts, green eggs and ham, play games and meet the Cat in the Hat!

Throughout the next several days, celebrations will be happening at the Grand Island Public Library.  The schedule includes various events for children of all ages.

Lewis and Clark

The Sioux City Library is having two special storytimes this morning.  (Okay, so technically the library is on the Iowa side of the river, but being so close to Nebraska, the drive is a short one!)

Metro

Visiting several Lincoln library storytimes will take several days for the Cat in the Hat.   You can see just how one of his library trips went recently. 🙂

Lincoln Barnes & Noble is having a special Seuss storytime on Monday March 3rd.

Indigo Bridge Books might be doing a special story time on Monday March 3rd, but I would verify this first.

As for finding Seuss in Omaha, please get the rundown at Oh My Omaha’s blog for all the events happening in Nebraska’s largest city.

Pioneer Country

Peru State College is performing 4 Seuss plays next week for area students.

Panhandle

Many Scottsbluff students celebrated yesterday!

Prairie Lakes

So far I did not find any activities for Dr. Seuss day at either Ogallala, North Platte or McCook.  But there might be?

Sandhills

Broken Bow Public Library is having a Dr. Seuss cake decorating contest next week.  See their website for more information.
